Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications via the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: „It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

„These kinds of items being sold, usually online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

„You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health.“
